Our 2015 August Kenya Outreach has now ended, and while we are tired in body, our hearts are very full that God would chose us to be a part of what He is doing in the hub of East Africa.
August 13-16 we traveled to Lodwar, Turkana in Northern Kenya to take part in a Leaders Conference & Outreach. Leaders from across denominational lines came together to hear teaching on Biblical Financial Principles & How To Start a Business by Dave & Lynne Johnson, and Basic Leadership from myself.
In the afternoon outdoor meetings, almost 200 people gave their lives to Jesus throughout the week. What thrilled my heart was seeing almost 80% of these 200 were young men between 20 & 30 years old. When men’s hearts begin to turn to the Lord, you can be assured something very significant is happening.
Lodwar is a very arid region with rain only falling once or twice a year, unemployment very high, and opportunities somewhat limited. But when hearts get hungry and thirsty and turn to the Lord, He will always make sure they will be filled. When He fills, He always restores hope and gives us new opportunities, causing our desert to blossom as the rose!
We were also able to move outside Lodwar town and feed two different villages with beans, rice, and corn (used to make Ugalli, the basic Kenya food). We received word again this week on how very happy the people in those nomadic villages were grateful for our visit and to remember them in time of need. Pastor Brad Morgan always says: “...you can’t lose loving people”. We hope to return there next year with “Dinner and a Movie”, Feeding the entire village again and showing the Jesus film outside.
During our time in SW Kenya we had the opportunity to visit the Nyaisero Orphanage taking food, supplies and medicine for those battling malaria. Someone in Kenya has donated enough fence post to begin fencing in the property. The Kenya Assemblies of God Women’s Ministry has donated the money to purchase the wire needed to complete the fence project. We are now trusting God for the funds to begin Phase One which is Building the Dormitory to house these 60 children who were made orphans because of no fault of their own. James 1:27 pounds in my heart as he said pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
August 24-28, the Revival Now School of Ministry saw over 120 pastors & leaders from all across denominational lines and across Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania come together for five days of intense teaching (and preaching) from Pastor Brad Morgan, Bishop Jesus Guerrero, Charles Kalkomey and myself. On Wednesday we had separate breakout sessions for men and women in which we discussed some very sensitive topics. In the Men’s questions & answer session, God really imparted some sound advice and Godly Biblical wisdom to men on how to care for their families. Bea Kalkomey led the Women’s Session teaching on Identity.
The week ended with a time of prayer and impartation plus the renewal of the wedding vows of Pastor John & Naomi Sang who serve as part of the RNSOM staff.
On Saturday August 29th we had the wonderful honor to take part in the Ordination of Bishop Dalmas Momboshi as Bishop in the Caring Africa Outreach Ministries in the village of Keshuek, west of Kilgoris. Bishop Dalmas has also served with us as the Director of Registration of the School of Ministry since it’s inception in April 2010. Bishop Dalmas is one of many who have taken part in the Kenya School of Ministry that are being used by God to touch people all across Kenya. They are not only being used to bring people to Jesus; they are being used to change the destiny of the nation…for the better!
NONE of this would be possible without the help of individual partners, churches from all denominational backgrounds and business men and business women who are helping us out of the goodness of their hearts.
As I often state, RNM is an interdenominational work. That means not one single denomination underwrites the work we are doing. Every life on planet earth matters; and every gift counts. I feel very strongly God is calling us to spend even more time outside the United States ministering in this season we are in. The time for worldwide revival is now! But for us to complete our part of the Great Commission, we need your help today.
Would you consider including a special extra gift to help us expand our outreach to the nations of the world? Maybe your church needs a missionary to come and cast the vision for the nations. Pam and I would love to be a part of your team. Again, every life on earth matters to God; and every gift counts.
Thank you for just being sensitive and obedient to what Holy Spirit tells you to do. And thank you for being a part of our small part of the Great Commission.
