Pam and I have just completed three outstanding weeks ministering among the Maasai in Kenya East Africa.
We began our second year of the Maasai Vocational Training Centre in Kilgoris in southwest Kenya on April 4th. This session we had over 50 pastors and leaders attend the meetings on Life of Christ, Five Fold Ministry Leadership and Communion with the Holy Spirit. Pastor Brad Morgan and Kathleen Gage accompanied us as instructors.
The Holy Spirit seemed to become more intense with each session, many times moving so, all people could do would be worship or weep. One afternoon at least three pastors were filled with the Holy Spirit, one of them being a Seventh Day Adventist! He is a seventy-year old man who still at his age is hungry for the Word and eager to learn. Jesus wasn’t talking foolishness when He said Blessed are you who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for you shall be filled.
I had the opportunity to preach the Gospel at two weddings this trip. Maasai weddings are an all day event, starting mid-morning and lasting till late in the afternoon. There is lots of singing, a time for preaching, then the actual wedding ceremony. We have made weddings a get it done quick event, not fully comprehending the sacredness of the covenant being entered into between the couple. Could that be the reason divorce is almost epidemic in American marriages?
The good news is over 30 people gave their lives to Jesus at the weddings. I could not help but think about the Marriage Supper of the Lamb that is coming and what a celebration that will be! It won’t be a “let’s get it done quick” event!
Our last weekend in Kenya was spent in a small town of Kitengela, approximately 10 miles southeast of Nairobi, the capital city. We participated in a Leadership Conference with Victory Family Ministries under the direction of Bishop David Matipei. Over 50 leaders from his fellowship as well as the surrounding area participated in the four-day event.
On Friday night we experienced a tremendous breakthrough. Many were filled with the Holy Spirit and several testified of healings that took place in their bodies. Once again, people’s hunger and thirst for God is the main ingredient for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit! When you couple that with sincere worship, you have a Holy Ghost explosion on your hands!
Pam and I are so humbled by the calling God has placed on our lives. Once in a while I will receive an email or a message criticizing us for spending time in other nations, when America is in such need herself. But we are spending more time traveling the US spreading the message of repentance, restoration and revival, than we are in other countries.
The calling of God knows no boundaries. The need for the Gospel to be proclaimed is not limited to the United States alone! In the words of Reinhard Bonkke the great German Evangelist, the world is our oyster, the nations are our parish!
We have so many opportunities to travel and touch the nations we are having a hard time praying for the mind of God on which ones to accept. We are praying about several opportunities to minister in different Pacific Island nations that are asking for our ministry. The doors in Kenya are wide open for continuous crusades and pastors training seminars. Nicaragua is calling us as well as the ministry in Guyana continues to cry out for us to come over and help them. Your faithful prayers and giving will allow us to walk through these open doors.
And of course, we are always open to new opportunities here in the US. God has not forgotten about our nation! I truly believe we are on the verge of the next Great Awakening.
