In last month’s Newsletter we discussed just a little of how dreams are important in the lives of New Testament believers. There is no way we can cover every aspect of the role dreams play in our lives in this forum; but never forget one of the signs of the last days are according to Acts 2:17;
‘And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God,
That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh;
Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
Your young men shall see visions,
Your old men shall dream dreams… NKJV
Peter is not restricting dreams to only old men; he is telling us that no matter our age in this journey called life we should expect supernatural communication with God…and from God!
What are some things that will stop our dreams?
1. A wrong view of life will stop your dream
Life is not against you. God is NOT playing a dirty trick on you. Your employer is not against you. Your family is not attempting to stop the dreams of your heart from coming to pass; satan is. He may use some of these people from time to time, but your real adversary is the devil.
You life is not meant to only be filled with work, work, work, struggle, struggle, struggle; then you die and your family spends the rest of their lives fighting over what you left.
God created every one of us with a purpose and for a purpose. He brought you to faith in Jesus Christ because someone, somewhere needs the gift that God deposited in your life before you were born. He created you to be an answer to someone’s prayer and a miracle in someone’s life.
When you only think of yourself as a bag of dirt, or if you never can accept the truth that you WERE a sinner, NOW you are a saint/son of God, your life will be constantly confusion or a state of perpetual defeat.
2. A wrong view of self.
Dr. Henry Wright says “Self pity is the super glue that binds us to our past.” One of the greatest crimes in our lifetime is identity theft. Not only financially, but also spiritually.
Sadly, I know this all too well. For much of my life, satan kept me bound to a mindset of poverty, victimization, and religion. He knew when I found my true identity, his grip over my life would be destroyed. A wrong view of yourself and your identity as a son or daughter of God will destroy the God-dream for your life and rob you of the truth of son-ship.
3. Wrong view of God.
There was a very popular song back in the ‘70’s titled “God’s Gonna Get You For That”. While it was cute and carried a smidgen of truth, in reality, it promoted a wrong view of God. As our Father, God is not trying to “get us”, He’s not trying to catch us in some hidden sin or expose us as a fraud (thank You Jesus), He’s trying to love us into His image! We were lost; He sent Jesus into this world to find us.
Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” NKJV
Jeremiah 32:17 “Ah, Lord God! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for You. “ NKJV
Luke 19:10 “...for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.” NKJV
Never allow what is wrong with you stop you from believing & receiving what is right with Him.
Has your dream died? Have you become trapped in an addiction to the point that disqualification is keeping you from pursuing your dream? Have you allowed others to talk you out of your dream with their unbelief?
Just as Spring time is dawning in the Northern Hemisphere, new leaves are appearing on the trees and new flowers are budding all around us, God is giving new life to dead dreams.
Allow God to change your season so you can….
Dream again!
