We have just completed our 2016 Winter Conference in Lanett Alabama. Holy Spirit continues to amaze me with how much the Father truly cares about people AND local churches. I have been saying for many years, the coming move of God will be a move of Holy Spirit to and through the local church.

I have often been accused of being “churchified” or as some people say a “churchian”. I will be the first to admit passionately, going to church doesn’t make you a Christian any more than going into your garage makes you a car. But something unexplainable happens when the local church, the ecclesia…the called out ones gather together from a region in one location to worship and praise our magnificent Father!

This past weekend, we saw churches cancel their services in order to come together with other regional churches for the purpose of allowing Holy Spirit to move in a great measure within and for the ecclesia (the called out ones). For those pastors to cancel their services (one of them even canceled their Sunday morning service to participate) it took courage, faith and it set them up to be ridiculed. But it also positioned them up to be blessed by the Lord! For the weekend we saw at least 10 different churches take part in the meetings.

I realize much of the “unity” we hear discussed today is a compromised, watered down, satanic and anti-christ religious exercise. The unity the Bible teaches does not compromise the Word, but rather is strengthened by both the Word and the Spirit.

This past Sunday morning I ministered from Psalms 133 on Unity. Here are some thoughts that are still lingering on my heart:

1.Unity creates a good environment. In verse 1, the writer states it is good and pleasant for brethren to dwell together in unity. Who doesn’t like good things? Who doesn’t like to be in a good atmosphere? I know, God IS more important than good. A God atmosphere will produce a good atmosphere because every good and perfect gift comes from Him. But how many people wake up in the morning and say, “…I think I will start an argument with my spouse today”? I have found after 36 years of marriage that a good atmosphere is NOT created when Pam and I have an argument! It STINKS!!!!

Unity is not only good but pleasant as well. God things are reproduced in a good atmosphere. The fruit of the Holy Spirit will grow faster and better in an atmosphere of unity.

2.Unity creates an atmosphere for the anointing to flow. The anointing doesn’t flow from side to side; nor does it flow up. The anointing flows down.

In verse 2 Solomon gives the example of when Aaron was anointed to be High Priest. Some scholars say there was almost 5 U.S. gallons of oil poured upon Aaron’s head that day by Moses. There was so much oil poured on him it saturated his clothes…to the point it went down to the edges of his garment.

Aaron had so much oil on him and his clothes that everywhere he walked he left an imprint of his feet. If he ever sat down, he left an imprint where he sat. Every person or object he would touch a residue of the oil would be left behind.

Satan hates unity because it draws what I call a saturation anointing. It’s the anointing that will leave a lasting impression on people. It’s the anointing that will impact a city. It’s the anointing that will transform individuals, cities, regions and nations. NOT the personality of men or the doctrines of organizations.

Finally in verse 3, the Word says that unity brings a commanded blessing: even life forevermore! Again, who doesn’t like life? I realize many people are consumed with death. I have known people over the years that were so infatuated with death; it actually brought death on their lives. They ended up dying prematurely.

When I served as a pastor, I conducted so many funerals the funeral director offered me a permanent job at the local funeral home. But I never could make myself go into the embalming room. There is something about the embalming room that is not conducive to my happiness! In fact, it kind of makes me weird out. I don’t know many people lining up to visit the local funeral home embalming room. But people love to visit a maternity ward when babies are born!

Would you set yourself in agreement with me and this prayer: Father, may the prayer Jesus prayed in John 17 become more than a good teaching or nice words to read. Let His prayer that You would make us one even as You and He are one become a reality in our lives and in our life time. In Jesus name…

Amen!
