For the last several months I have been asking the Lord to show me if there are any open doors in which I am allowing satan access to attack or control my life. That sounds odd coming from a minister that is being used internationally, but I have to be honest friends: I have not arrived yet! He is STILL doing a work in me.
It has been said the battle for life is in the mind; and the battle of the mind is for focus. Our way of thinking (or mindsets) are influenced by our childhood experiences, our education, our religious upbringing (if any) as well as what we feed our minds in the way of reading, TV and music.
For the last several months, God has been speaking to me specifically about the poverty mindset. A mindset is simply a way of thinking. I grew up in poverty so I can testify that this way of thinking is a direct result of the environment I grew up in. I am not attacking my parents, they did the best they could at the time in which we lived. But the poverty mindset has directly affected the way I look at God, the way I respond to others, and even the way I treat my wife and family.
I didn’t read this in a book, or get it off someone else’s website, these are just a few simple thoughts Holy Spirit is impacting my life with:
- A poverty mindset will make you feel guilty when God blesses you.
- A poverty mindset will pressure you to apologize for the blessings of God on your life.
- A poverty mindset is deeply rooted in unbelief and works hand in hand with jealousy, envy, strife and an offended spirit.
What is your mindset? Do you believe God wants to save you? Heal you? Bless you? Empower you? God’s Word says He does!
Don’t allow a mindset contrary to the Word of God hinder you from receiving and being the man or woman of God He has called you to be!
Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus… Philippians 2:5
