Our First Kilgoris Interdenominational Conference and Crusade has truly been a defining moment in our work here in Kenya. By the end of the conference there were over 77 pastors representing 60 different denominational groups from all across Kenya. Total attendance for the conference averaged over 400 for the sessions. The spirit of unity that has prevailed during this first interdenominational conference has already given breakthrough in many churches across the country.
Another aspect of this conference was the fact that it also had inter-tribal participation. Out of the 42 tribes recognized in Kenya, there were at least seven different tribes attending that I was able to verify. This seemed to be a major time of tribal healing for this area of the country.
To God be ALL the Glory!
Our crusades held from Thursday through Saturday afternoon resulted in at least 25 people publically give their lives to Jesus. We also saw many delivered from demonic possession. One young lady and one older man were so visibly delivered they didn’t even look like the same people. I’m so glad Jesus still sets people free!
Our team from across Alabama, Texas and New York City were greatly used by God to bless the Kenyan people. We have always been blessed with good teams to travel with us, but there was a distinct unity and a flow of the Spirit between all of us that actually brought us to a new level in Christ.
There are several things I have personally received from these meetings. First, God IS calling us into a greater measure of HIS governmental order. And, that everyone has a place at the table with God. This calling to order and to sit at His table is because He wants to use ALL OF US (not just people in the five fold ministry) to establish His dominion on earth.
No job is too small and no position is insignificant in God’s sight. It concerns me that we have elevated men and women in ministry to a higher place than God for too long. While those with a call to ministry may be God’s representatives on earth, no one is more important to God’s Kingdom than another.
Many may say AMEN! to that: but why are so many still trying to copy someone else’s ministry and style, instead and being thankful for and celebrating the unique giftings each one of us have?
I know that seemed to be two rambling thoughts, but I’m just askin’…
Secondly, one of the main problems we have in the church today is there are too many goats and not enough sheep; as well as too many hirelings and not enough true pastors to care for the sheep. People are not attending a local church to be dominated and abused by pastors; nor are they attending your church so they can help you fulfill your dream. They are in your local church to be led into green pastures.
On the flip side, neither are you to attend a church in order to “keep the pastor accountable” or to tell him or her how to operate the church. I do believe there is a desperate need for greater accountability for those of us in ministry. The key word in all this is balance.
That bites! But I say that as someone who served as a pastor for over 23 years of my life. And yes, I am repenting.
Thirdly, the Holy Spirit is the greatest change agent on the earth today! In order to grow in wisdom and in stature and favor with God and man…we must choose to live by and walk by a different set of rules; we must chose to live by a different order…influence…and ultimately a greater POWER!
It is true: a relationship with Jesus is not about keeping a set of rules and regulations. Yet to whom much is given, much is required. I have chosen to walk and live by a set of “rules” i.e. The Word of God (but not in a legalistic way) in order to carry the favor of God on my life. When I am walking in favor with God, He will give me favor with man!
You must have favor with God to go to heaven when you die; you must have favor with man to complete your assignment before you die.
Thank you for your giving this month! This conference just completed has already given birth to three more of these same types of conferences across Kenya for 2013. There is a huge cry for conferences that will promote and exercise unity among denominations, tribes and genders. Because of this Macedonian cry, we are adding several more trips to Kenya in 2013 in order to fulfill the expanding of the vision. This will be over and above the currently scheduled trips in April, August & December for our pastors training. If you are interested in accompanying me on any one of these trips in 2013, feel free to contact me by email: .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
Pam and I realize you DO have a choice in which ministries to place your seed. There are MANY worthy ministries around the world that are expanding the Kingdom of God and fulfilling their part of Jesus’ final command. Thank you again for believing in us and supporting our part of the Great Commission.
