12 Therefore, since we have such hope, we use great boldness of speech— 13 unlike Moses, who put a veil over his face so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the end of what was passing away. 14 But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ. 15 But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart. 16 Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord. 2 Corinthians 3:12-18 NKJV
Change is the most inevitable thing we will ever experience. It’s the most obvious thing because all you have to do is look in the mirror, and you can see the changes taking place within you daily.
And yet, for many believers, it’s we resist changing more than any other event in our lives.
We know our country has changed for the worse. We know the church, in many respects, has changed for the worse. And I am not advocating to change the message of the Gospel. But our methods can change in order to reach an ever-changing society. Flannel boards will not reach the iPad generation.
What I am aiming to convey is how do we handle and navigate the God-changes that happen to us?
I’m still processing that as well.
In thinking about the God-change that He is orchestrating on the earth these days, I want to revisit some points I made in a newsletter last year.
What are the God changes?
1.I strongly sense God is wanting to establish Apostolic Training Centers instead of more churches copying what other churches are doing…just to keep up with the latest trend in the Christianity marketplace.
-Ephesians 4:7 “for unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.”
This God-change will look different in different places. In some churches, God will move them into becoming a healing center. Others’ focus will continue to be on birthing revival and renewal in that particular local area. Others will flow with a strong anointing in deliverance, breaking addictions, and restoring addicts to become healthy members of our society. Others will focus on raising up men and women to invade the marketplace as “market-place ministers.” Others will continue their focus on youth and children. And of course, there will be others who will bring forth fresh new music that will usher in the Presence of God in gatherings around the world, producing different streams in different locations….as it pleases HIM!
We will also continue to see networks of house churches/small group ministries being planted in different regions due to so many feeling displaced and not looking for “established churches” to be a part of. Not out of rebellion but out of a sincere desire to be a part of organic discipleship
An apostolic training center is not interested in putting people in a building as much as it is interested in raising up sons & daughters who will bring Kingdom expansion. There is a huge desire coming into hearts around the world to get back to true early church Christianity.
2.GOD is putting a demand in the Spirit that we find our spiritual father & plug in!
If we know our spiritual father/our apostle, plug it! Connect deeper! Or, in other words, know who you are connected to! Who you are connected to determines what flows out of you. I use the illustration all the time, saying that you cannot pull up to a gas pump, put the gas nozzle in your mouth, and expect Sprite to come out of it. The only thing that will come out of a gas nozzle is what is in the tank under the ground: gasoline!! Well, and maybe some dirt that is in the bottom of the tank.
3.Honor the past, don’t worship the past!
And don’t let the pain and the problems of your past hold you back from encountering a fresh touch of God’s Spirit. Don’t let the pain & problems of the past keep you from plugging into the community of believers God wants you to be connected to! Also, don’t allow a fear of disrespecting your past spiritual heritage to hinder you.
4.There is a coming “merging of ministries”.....” “a merging of churches” that will form stronger bodies….across denominational lines…city lines…even international boundaries….that will create such a saturation of God’s Glory that no generation anywhere will ever be able to say,
“I have never tasted of living water before!!!”
Next month, we will try to look at quality steps we can make to navigate change.
