And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. 14 The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”
April 2025 brings us into the Resurrection Season, a most wonderful time in which we celebrate the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. I am very grateful he told Martha the same day He raised Lazarus from the dead, “I am the resurrection and the life!”
This is also the season in which we remember and celebrate the deliverance of the Hebrew people from the slavery of Egypt. It is also a picture of our deliverance from the slavery of sin and death.
While recently traveling to Indiana for weekend ministry, as I was thinking about all the uncertainty in so many people’s lives, I heard the spirit say, “Embrace the uncertainty and ride the chaos!” That almost sounds blasphemous. At first look, it also sounds full of unbelief. But the scripture is filled with stories of people who faced great uncertainty and tremendous chaos then God stepped in, settled the uncertainty, and drove out the chaos!
Watch what God speaks to Israel to do (and what we should do) if we are boxed in and tormented with uncertainty and chaos:
First, He said “Do not be afraid.”
I almost laughed when I read this. It’s easy for me to tell you in the middle of your uncertainty & chaos, don’t be afraid. When I was diagnosed with tonsil cancer in September 2023, that is the one thing I told Pam we were not going to do. Never allow fear to drive and torment you in the midst of uncertainty!
There are well over 4,000 documented fears that men and women have to deal with on a regular basis. Fear of man, fear of failure, fear of death, fear of the unknown, the fear of missing God, are just a few. But thankfully, God is NOT the one who puts fear in our lives. Paul was very clear when he stated in 2 Timothy 1:7
“For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
The second thing God told the Hebrews to do is stand still. This is not a command to inactivity. I see it as a posture of faith. I have found over and over in my life, it’s how I act during times of uncertainty and chaos that determines how long I have to stay.
Just a few days ago, I realized that on March 9th we marked the 5th anniversary of the day the world was shut down from Covid-19. I can remember battling not just the fear of catching the virus (which I did four different times), I can remember the uncertainty and the chaos of how long this was going to last. I watched people fighting over toilet paper when I went to Walmart. I watched friends die from the virus. We all battled the anger of being unable to gather with our families. No one knew how long this would last and whether we would ever make it out of that dark season. I battled a concern that I might never get to preach again, or whether or not we would ever get to go back to the field of our assignment. Time seemed to stand still. We all stood still. We couldn’t even gather in the House of God to celebrate the resurrection that year. But God was NOT standing still. God delivered us from that moment, and He will again deliver us from the chaos and uncertainty we face in this hour.
Next, He said, “See the salvation of the Lord.” New Covenant salvation is an all-inclusive word that means forgiveness of sin, healing, victory, deliverance, safety, and protection.
To “see the salvation of the Lord” means paying attention, staying focused, not losing hope, and most of all, not getting into fear while you wait for God to move. What you do and how you act during times of waiting will determine how long you have to wait. Waiting time is never wasted time as long as you use it as preparation time.
Psalms 37:7 “Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him…”
Psalms 40:1 “I waited patiently for the Lord and He inclined to me and heard my cry…”
Isaiah 40:31 “They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint.”
I am praying constantly for people who are in the midst of the greatest battle of their lives. God is working friends. He has not abandoned you. He wasn’t speaking empty words when He said, “I will never leave you, nor forsake you.”
No matter what you face today, “embrace the uncertainty.” “Ride the chaos!”
