We Need A Genuine Revival!

David Copeland August 28, 2007 10:12 am

This is one of those blogs I really don't want to post.

So you would say "why do it?"

Randy and Paula White are getting a divorce.

Thomas Weeks beats up his wife Juanita Bynum in a hotel parking lot in Atlanta.

I am not posting this to attack these people. I am posting it because my heart is broken and grieved for these couples! But my heart is also grieved for the ministry in America today!

No, I don't think David Copeland or Revival Now Ministries is the answer to all the problems in the American church or in the ministry today. Pam and I experienced separation and almost divorced over twenty years ago, so you won't find stones being thrown here. God knows, I struggle with too much in my own life to throw rocks at anybody!

I am posting this because this is another example how the ministry and the church in America is in trouble!

Our arrogant attitude that we are the reason the world turns is getting us in trouble with God and with the world! Our attitude that the Great Commission will not be fulfilled without us has separated us from the very God we claim to preach! And we need God!

The world does not need our missionaries; (and I am a Missionary Evangelist, whatever that is!) The world is now sending missionaries to us!

The world doesn't really need our preaching; some of the greatest preachers of the Gospel now live outside the U.S.!

The world doesn't need our pastors; the greatest pastors on earth today live outside the United States!

The world doesn't need our teaching on how to build a mega-church; the largest churches in the world are located outside the U.S.!

The world doesn't need us to teach them how to raise the dead; they do it all the time in Africa!

What the world does need us to do is lead the way with humility, brokenness, and showing God and the world we do not believe our press releases any more!

Believe it or not folks we CAN make it without a new car, a new condo; we don't need a new airplane to make the ministry more efficient;

We need a fresh touch of God in our lives and on our lives to remind us the ministry, better yet our ministry is not the last great hope of the world; Jesus is the last hope, the only hope for the world.

Including this world we call the American church.

We are rich and increased with goods, and can't even see that we are poor, blind miserable and naked!

Please God, send us revival!
