Troubling Stats

I was actually cleaning up my office one day this week (a major miracle)and came across some notes of a meeting I went to recently. These stats prove to me that America is ripe for a revival of unprecedented proportions!

* America is the world's third-largest unreached nation with over 195 million unreached people.

* 90% of churches in America are either plateaued or are in decline.

*Of the remaining 10% which are growing only 1% is growing by new conversions.

* One half of the churches in America did not add one new person through conversion growth last year.

* On a Sunday morning, less than 40% of all Americans attend church.

* Every day in America eight (8) churches will close their doors while inly six (6) new churches will open.

* In the next 24 hours there will be thousands of Americans that will die without Jesus Christ as their Savior!

* Researchers tell us that only 1/2 of the Christians go to church as they say they do.

* U.S. Christians spend over 97% of their income on themselves.

* The Assemblies of God, the largest Full Gospel Fellowship in the world declined in average Sunday morning attendance by 1,003 people in the last five years.

I say we need to cry out for an unprecedented move of the Holy Spirit that will bring us back into right relationship with God!

Outreaches are important. Cutting edge ministry and programs have their place. But without the Holy Spirit of God breathing His Life into our midst, we are still a sounding brass and a tinkling cymbal!
