Piney Campmeeting Update

I am not able to blog as much as I would like to because I am having to drive to the Days Inn parking lot just to get internet access and check my email!

We have completed out third night of the Piney Campmeeting outside Wytheville Virginia. At least eleven churches from around the Wytheville area come together each year the first full week of August to celebrate the Presence of God and to seek His face for revival. The heat has kept the attendance down this year so far, but the Spirit of the Lord has moved mightily in each service.

The Piney Campmeeting has been held every year for almost 40 years or so. Many great preachers of the Gospel have stood behind that pulpit at the Camp Shed; some have gone on to their reward in heaven, others, such as Perry Stone have gone on to international notoriety. It is a great honor and Pam and I are humbled to be asked to participate for the second year in a row.

Last night I preached on the subject again, "Is Healing For Today?" So many bloggers that God has seemed to link together (Carl Thomas, Chet Swearingen, slw, Dr. Michael Davis, JC Smith just to name a few) all have a burning passion to see the church contend for the faith once delivered to the saints. The word "contend" in Greek literally means to struggle for; to fight against the forces that are opposing or stopping. It encourages me to know there are others out there who know the church is not what we should be or could be; but that also we are not what we are GOING TO BE!

I am very grateful for doctors and the tremendous breakthroughs in medicine that have taken place in the last 10 years. But I want to declare to the world, God set in motion the Church of Jesus Christ to a THE catalyst for healing for the nations of the world. The New Jerusalem will even have a tree whose leaves are for the healing of the nations! A quick scan of the four Gospels will show the majority of Jesus time and effort was dealing with relieving the physical sufferings of mankind.

No subject has caused more debate and confusion in our life time than the subject of healing. Friends we cannot read the Bible with an open mind and still not believe healing is for today!

We all know people who have been prayed for that didn't get their healing. I am not going to stand in judgment of them and say it was a lack of faith…but I believe when we as the church get into the position where we are not picking each other apart and simply contend for that which was once delivered to the saints, the proof will be in the pudding…or the healings!

Father God, get us in the position with You so Your Holy Spirit can flow through our lives, our churches and our Ministries to bring healing to a desperately hurting world! May You be able to trust us again with that anointing that will destroy every sickness and disease afflicting mankind! In Jesus name!
