Kilgoris Youth Conference First Report

The rest of our Alabama contingent arrived safely into Nairobi on Friday night. Andrew Peters and I welcomed Tyler Mock from Samson Alabama and Aaron & Sarah Bowman from C3 in Auburn Alabama. We were actually able to get some sleep for the long ride back to Kilgoris.

One of our wonderful partners paid for us to take the team back through the Maasai Mara to see a portion of the Great Migration that is taking place at this time of the year.. While we didn’t have time to actually go into the Game Park, God still blessed us with the opportunity to see quite a number of Wildebeast and Zebra as well as more ostriches than I have ever seen in my life.

After lunch we began the rest of the journey to Kilgoris, and a safari it was. As we headed up the Escarpment, the rain began to fall…and fall…and fall…and it wasn’t long till the road was so slick it became impassable.

We hired a local Maasai man to navigate us through some grassy area and after 2 hours and getting stuck four times, we finally made it to some decent road. I say decent; only in the sense that we didn’t get stuck again.  A drive that normally takes 1 ½ hours turned into four. But along the way, God blessed us with the opportunity to see more zebra and a number of giraffe. Yes folk, this is not Alabama!

Sunday morning Andrew and Tyler ministered for Pastor Jackson Mongaine at the Kilgoris Assembly of God while Aaron & Sarah accompanied me to the village of Keshuek, another drive of 1 ½ hours due west of town. No drama on this trip (getting stuck in the mud, thank You Jesus!) and we were able to make it back before the rain started again. We also saw God add twelve more names to the Lamb’s Book of Life. To God be the Glory!!!!

In preparation for the Youth Conference that began tonight we were able to spend about two hours this morning after breakfast, praying, worshiping and preaching to each other. The Glory fell so strong on me, I actually thought I might be going to heaven. There is something about being in a different culture, in an environment that is somewhat free from distractions, and only two channels you can watch on TV that makes the atmosphere conducive for God to touch you and speak to you.

As some of you have seen on TV there is a drought in Northern Kenya/Southern Somalia that has turned into a famine. God blessed us with the opportunity to feed and entire village on the Saturday we were in the region. God gave us a prophetic word that within 48 hours of the last service, God was going to send rain to Lodwar. I just talked in person to Pastor Boniface, Director of the Lodwar Pastors Fellowship who hosted us for the meetings in July, and he said it has been raining in Lodwar town since we left. They have now gone from a drought to some flooding.

To God Be ALL THE GLORY!!!!
The Youth Conference tonight started with the sweetest anointing among the youth. Each one of the team took about 9 minutes to share a word that was burning in their hearts. Many responded at the altar time for ministry, some accepting Christ, others recommitting their lives to Jesus.

The Youth Marathon begins today with sessions lasting all day today and into the night. Thank you for all the prayers going up for me and the teams we have had ministering this month. God is granting us great favor all across the Maasai land in Kenya.

They also thank you for your generous support in helping us spend many weeks at a time here.

Karibou!
