Holy Ghost Clean Up!

Since we have been gone from home over three weeks straight, when we came home there was a lot of catching up to do. One thing we have done this week is help our daughter and son-in-law paint, remodel and get ready to move into a new house. The house is only ten years old but because of neglect and repossession, things had deteriorated quite a bit.
I like doing this kind of work every once in a while; first because I used to be a contractor before I became a full time minister; secondly because I never want to forget how people who are not in full time ministry have to fight for their time alone with God! I look back on my pastoral life and realize I put an enormous amount of pressure on my congregation to be "at" everything, forgetting the pressure of the work week, kids and homework, etc…
As I was painting this week I realized this is how God must look at our lives sometimes; through neglect the house decays is what Solomon said! But when a house gets in real bad shape, it takes awhile to get the carpets cleaned, walls patched, ceiling re-sprayed, and walls painted, the yard manicured…it doesn't always happen in one day!
Paul said it best in Romans 5 "…tribulation works patience, patience experience, and experience hope…and hope does not make ashamed because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost…" I'm glad God is more patient with us sometimes than we are with Him!
He also told the Philippian church that He who began a good work in you will complete it till the day of the Lord Jesus…
If we give the Holy Ghost time, He will complete the job!!!!
We are back in Pattison Texas this week end at New Life Beginnings Church. Services are Saturday night at 6pm CDT and Sunday at 10am.
