Guyana Update 2

Three times a year Revival Now Ministries in partnership with World Harvest Missions Outreach travels to the northwest interior region of Guyana to minister among the Amerindians, one of the Western Hemisphere's forgotten people groups. For the last year, it has been a privilege for one of our radio managers Phil Teague to accompany me. His job this trip would be to show the Jesus Film as well as the new Left Behind DVD in some of these remote villages.

Each trip we stage our ministry out of two different villages Kwebana and Wauna. On our way to Kwebana we stopped off for Sunday Morning service in a village named Assakata, a very remote village that until last November had gone eight years without an outside visitor. The anointing in the service was very great and many responded to salvation and prayer for healing.

After the morning service we continued our journey to the village of Kwebana where for the last year we have staged the first half of our trip. On Sunday night, we attempted to show the Jesus Film, but trouble with the generator caused the surge protector to burn up and the DVD player began to smoke. Not just a puff of smoke, but literally boiling out of every conceivable place on the player.

Needless to say it was very discouraging to both Phil and I. So instead of a movie, I preached a short message and twelve young men responded to give their lives to Christ! What the devil meant for evil God turned into good!

What I'm about to tell you can be verified by well over 100 people. It would be impossible for that DVD player to work after the amount of smoke that boiled out. In fact, we couldn't get it to open up but we gathered around it and prayed for God to touch this manmade object and the next day plugged it up and it worked like a brand new unit! We couldn't even get the thing to open up on Sunday night! Miracles still happen, even with manmade objects! We used this same DVD player the remainder of the trip without any problems whatsoever! To God be the Glory!

We were able to show the Jesus Film in six villages and a cabbage factory with over 250 people responding to the altar call for salvation! On Friday night, we were able to go into another remote village where almost 100 people crammed into a small thatch hut that literally swayed under the weight of the people. There were so many people you had to go outside to change your thought! The people were so engrossed with the video they literally hung on every word. When the altar call was given, sixty people prayed the sinner's prayer. This was very special to us because it was in an area that until last Friday was off limits to us. I cannot say where it was due to the sensitivity of the area, but I can say the favor of God was truly with us.

In all, we touched over 30 villages, hundreds prayed the sinner's prayer, many reported physical healings and most of all the Great Commission was carried out. As I continue to travel around the world many have criticized this aspect of our ministry. Last week, I read the greatest answer I could give to that type of view: A wise fisherman never fishes out of just one place. The Great Commission still says go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature…

I'll be posting more from the trip later.

Thank you for joining us in this journey!
