Guyana Christmas Trip Update
I want to thank everyone who participated with us either in giving finances or prayer for our recent Christmas Food Trip to Guyana. We arrived home very late Monday night and spent yesterday trying to get time to blog about the trip. It was again the greatest trip I have been on. And after 15 trips to the interior just when you think it can't get any better, it does!
There is so much I could say, but I will try to be as brief and concise as I can. We were able to distribute between 6,000-8,000 pounds of rice, beans and flour to the Amerindians who live in the remote areas of the Northwest interior of Guyana(that's almost 4 tons). We touched over 30 villages, and fed between 3500-5,000 people; we were able to give not only pastors food, but we also fed entire villages! We distributed well over 100 Bibles; we were able to purchase two chain saws for pastors to use in building brush churches as well as use to cut lumber to sell to help feed their families; but greatest of all, over 50 people gave their lives to Jesus Christ! Which is the greatest Christmas present anyone could receive!
Our team consisted of men from Alabama, North Carolina and Florida, from Baptist, Assembly of God, Church of God and Independent backgrounds; working together under the Blood of Jesus to show one of the forgotten people groups Jesus has heard their cry!
I say repeatedly, there is one prayer Jesus prayed that has not yet been fulfilled that will be fulfilled before He comes back to earth; that's the prayer in John 17 that He prayed we would be one, ever as He and the Father are one! I saw a little bit of that fulfilled this week and it gives me great encouragement to know, no matter how destitute it seems in the world, there are people who are willing to work together underneath the banner of the Blood of Jesus to establish the Kingdom of God on earth, as it is in heaven!
