This year (July 7-11) the Assemblies of God in Guyana celebrated their 50th Anniversary! I wanted to be able to attend the celebration, but due to scheduling conflicts I had to remain in the states during that time. Pastor Seopaul Sing, a frequent contributer to Revival Journal attended the celebration and left this update on a post he had commented on sometime ago. I wanted to bring this update…up to date in honor of the Guyana AG's 50th Anniversary:

Hi Everyone.
As promised I now give you a brief account of the 50TH Anniversary Celebrations of the Assemblies of God In Guyana, Celebrated between July 7-11, 2008.
It was a grand 'Family Reunion' which was preempted by several Marches in Guyana from Countrysides, Townships and the City. The procession into the National Park was led by Officials of the AOG.
All roads led to the National Stadium in Georgetown. Floats, colors and Bands gave the occasion a sense of festivity compared to a mini Carifesta. In my estimation there were over seven thousand particiopants in the National Park Stadium.
The stadium was filled and the various Sections from the Ten Regions, regaled in special colors took up their seat on the stands. There were the Miniisters form overseas who were welcomed to the Center Stage. Most of the Old Brigade from among the founders were there.
Such an awe-inspiring occasion brought together tree generations of Ministers and Members of the National Church which boast a Membership of over seventeen thousand with a general following of over twenty seven thousand.
A lively session of singing and dancing (Bible style) prepared the gathering for the the address by the indomitable son of Guyana the Hon Bishop John Ewart Cummings of Restoration Temple Brooklyn New York.
The events of the week were inaugurated by a Grand Service opened to the membership and friends of the AOG. Present on the occasion was the Prime Minister Samuel HInds, a Former Class Mate of the General Superintend Rev John Oswald Smith Pastor of The Diplomat Center, Central Assembly of God. Then followed the General Council deliberations as the days moved on, and elections of Office Bearers at the Diplomat at Church and East Streets Georgetown, Guyana.
All Glory honor and praise to God for a refreshing morning and nightly stirring messages from such Ministers as Rev Trask Former World Wide Superintendent of The AoG, Rev Errol Bhola Former Supt of the AoG in Guyana, Sudnery Ramphal, former General Secretary of the AoG in Guyana and Pastor In Kansas City USA, Rev David Gunther Former Superintendent and Former Pastor of the Central Assembly Guyana, Rev Sam Ramphal former General Treasurer of the AoG Guyana and Pastor of Faith Assembly of Gog in Brooklyn,l Rev John Smith General Superintendent and Pastor of Central and others.
Praise God for the Faith of our Fathers kept alive by the dedicated and sacrificial efforts of the Founders and younger stalwarts still holding the banner high.

The AG in Guyana is very strong and we are privileged to be able to work alongside them in the North West interior! I am very thankful to them for embracing the work we have been doing in Region 1. May God continue to use them to reach Guyana for Jesus!
