Divine Reversal!
I have been in some places the last two weeks that have had little or no internet service again! Forgive me for not posting, but I really feel like I have been on a fast!
Shortly after God called me to preach He led me to do a study of Joel Chapters 1 and 2. We are all very familiar with Joel 2:28;
And it shall come to pass afterward, [that] I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: (29) And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.
This is our battle cry scripture! We know this scripture as well as Acts 2:17, which is Peter's version of this passage on the Day of Pentecost, must be fulfilled before Jesus' return to this earth! For all the skeptics about revival and its place within the structure of God's Kingdom purposes, remember He is the same yesterday, today and forever!
As I stated in a previous post, God has been taking me back and calling me to get back to the basics! God used this scripture almost thirty years ago to give me and Pam the theme for our ministry: to preach the message of repentance, restoration and revival, which we have tried to faithfully do for the last thirty years!
Notice, Joel 2:28 begins by saying "…it shall come to pass afterward…" (emphasis mine)
After what? Verse 12 tells us the first step is repentance. Then in verse 18, God begins the restoration part, telling the people the Lord will be jealous for His land and pity His people and will restore the years the locust has eaten…
I noticed yesterday a missing ingredient: verse 14: Who knoweth [if] he will return and repent, and leave a blessing behind him; [even] a meat offering and a drink offering unto the LORD your God?
I believe this signals a reversal of God intended complete impending judgment!
Yes, repentance is the first step in everything God has for us! Yes, He desires to restore us, restore the church, restore America, restore the land to fruitfulness, restore the years sin, sickness and rebellion has taken away from us!
But God also desires to reverse some things: He is calling first for a reversal of our attitudes; a reversal of our actions (which will demonstrate genuine repentance! Look at vs. 15-17), a reversal of our prayerlessness, a reversal of our apathy, then He will begin a reversal of His actions and His judgments!
And then, it shall come to pass afterwards, He will pour out His Spirit on all flesh…..
Divine reversal begins with us! Didn't a great man say one time, when God's people, which are called by His name…..?
O Father, give us divine reversal!
