Oral Roberts

I watched a portion of the Oral Roberts Memorial service yesterday on the internet. I was amazed over and over that each of the speakers (including his children) continued to emphasize Oral Roberts was just a human being. He was NOT larger than life and he didn't do everything perfect.

I have seen many comments over the last week some applauding his life, others criticizing and crucifying some of what they consider his false teaching.

I cannot help but think about the woman who was caught in the act of adultery. Jesus looks at her accusers and says, he that is without sin let him cast the first stone.

I too am grieved over the utter silliness the doctrine police have succumbed to.

I will go ahead and tell you, I am NOT doing it all right and I am not preaching it exactly right! I am not deliberately trying to be a false prophet nor am I trying to start another sub cult of Christianity.

I have already been attacked on some blogs for declaring without hesitation the gifts of the Spirit did not pass away when John the Revelator died.

Some people think the purity of Christ and Christ's doctrine rises and falls with them.

I just want to hear Him say well done good and faithful servant!

I'm not saying we should not speak out against squirrelly doctrine nor am I saying we should step aside and let the stupid antics continue in the church.

But until we can really get inside another man heart and really see his true motives let God be the judge. Over and over Oral Roberts would stand and say "…I am not a healer, Jesus is the healer! I just let Him work through me!"

Oral Roberts. We miss you already. Thanks for blazing the trail for us.

May God find me faithful enough to deposit His healing power in my life to declare to this generation!

Let the fire fall!

Well said! I wished everyone strived to hear our Lord say “well done good and faithful servant”. Keep preaching the WORD! God is working through you for HIS Kingdom!

I agree with you 100% Brother David. None of us are perfect by no means and the only perfect man was nailed to a cross for us.
I have watched Oral Roberts since I was a kid and oddly enough, the day Oral Roberts went to be with Jesus, I had been singing “Something Good is Going to Happen to You” off and on that day. Later than day, I kinda understood why that song had been placed on my heart.
You can’t fret the doctrine police. God knows you and He sees your heart. He knows the love you have for Him is pure. We’re all going to interpret something a little differently from others more than on just one occasion, but again, we’re humans and we’ve been known to make a mistake a time or two.
In all the years I’ve listened to Oral Roberts and his son, Richard, never once have I ever heard them take credit for anything, but have always placed credit where credit was due and that is with God, giving Him all glory, honor and praise.
You continue to do just what you’re doing and that’s to follow the leading of God’s Holy Spirit. And as far as the gifts of the Spirit, wellllllllllllllllllllllllllll….. those gifts are still very much alive and active and will be til God says differently!!!
Merry Christmas, Brother!!
